Kay A. Oliver has always loved writing and feels there is the power in words. Since entering elementary school writing/speech contest, she fell in love with writing. Especially since she only got second place because the teacher felt the speech was too good to have been written by her but rather her parents had written it. That couldn't be farther from the truth.
To her, words empower people. They can motivate people, provide information and good stories can educate. How you share information is always in the way you build a story.
It is important to Oliver that her characters are strong individuals who live a positive lifestyle. Women are always portrayed with intelligence and wit. While men are knowledgeable and respectful.
Reading any book written by her will also teach you information. Regardless of the topic, Oliver loves doing research and ensures her stories have true facts sprinkled throughout, even in a murder mystery.
Relationships within her novels are presented as respectful to each other, loving, and fun. Teasing and laughing is always a target Oliver includes in her stories. She aims to make you laugh in the middle of a topic most would consider serious. Just when you think the worse is happening, she can turn your thoughts on a dime.
Having spent a couple of decades working in Hollywood, she understands the need to hold the reader's attention. As a result, many reviews state "I couldn't put the book down." For Oliver that is the best compliant she can obtain.
Oliver enjoys tackling tough topics and unexplored questions that underlines her stories. DISTURBED TOMBS tackles the question: what may be happening when we excavate so many tombs while at the same time, we will not allow anyone to touch our current graveyards. Though the story has a bite of paranormal aspects to it, it asks the question: Are we disturbing their peace? Yes, it is an historical fiction, but what if?
ROAD TO ELYSIUM tackles depression, racism, and how a single decision made in an instant can change numerous lives for the better.
Inspired by a true story, Oliver felt the need to share the pain, and depression of loss, with how our decisions can change our circumstances and send us on a journey we never saw coming.
While SISTERS IN COLD tackles the fact that not all missing persons or murders cases, are treated with the same efforts as those with privilege and power receive. Though a fiction, she walks through the need to solve cases even when they are cold cases. If nothing else but to bring closure to the remaining family that is also impacted.
Her stories are great reads with notable underlying motives of education. Her efforts are to bring forward ideas that many do not want to present or even discuss in an entertaining read.
Not only has Kay A. Oliver's books won numerous awards, she has been recognized as a woman who promotes healthy and strong female images in her characters.
As an advocate for women in the workplace, she herself has been subject to the gender inequality. That is why she presents the female characters in her stories as capable, intelligent, and well-spoken women who have chosen smart men and who are recognized for their achievements.
"Her books make me wish I lived in them," writes one reader.
"The characters make me feel as if I know them. They are so real and full of life, I hate finishing the book. I want more."
Road to Elysium won three first place awards in the International BOOKFEST SPRING 2023 contest:

"Gratifying, touching, and thoroughly absorbing…
Oliver takes readers on an unforgettable emotional journey in her poignant latest novel. Struggling to come to terms with his wife and son’s death, Ken has become a recluse. When some neighborhood kids attempt to rob his house, his single decision sets off a chain of events, leading to Ken meeting a young man Mykel. As the two grow closer, Ken finds himself abandoning his grief, changing not only Mykel’s life in the process but also his own. Oliver deftly weaves themes of grief, trauma, adolescent angst, love, and personal discovery to tell a deeply moving story. The third-person omniscient narrative alternates between Ken’s ongoing story, with snippets of his tragic past sprinkled throughout. The author deftly creates an honest and likable protagonist in Ken. Readers will find themselves rapt with anticipation and filled with compassion for the grieving man’s journey to love and happiness. Through Ken and Mykel’s story, Oliver deftly shows how a person’s single decision can shape communities and people’s lives. Brilliant." The Prairie Book Review.
Readers Favorite 5 star review:
"Kay A. Oliver delivers a superb tale with plenty of positive and inspiring moments that balance the tragic circumstances of the lives touched upon within the characters of this intimate drama. Ken provides an accurate portrayal of a person crushed by tragedy. Despite the harrowing, raw, emotional narrative, Oliver balances his hard life with increasing moments of joy, pathos, and hope. The tale feels like a release from grief, with every day getting just a little better if we remember to let light, love, and other people back in. I really enjoyed the dialogue, which did a lot to carry the plot forward in a natural style, especially concerning Mykel. I recommend Road to Elysium to fans of realistic fiction; readers who have experienced loss will relate."
I wish to give Kay A. Oliver special thanks or praise for a job well done. What must have motivated the author to create such a fascinating tale is still a mystery to me.
The recovery process of Ken Hines is described in the book Road To Elysium by Kay A. Oliver. For a number of months, Ken had been depressed. He had been feeling conflicted and gloomy ever since the sad episode. He experienced many nights of insomnia and terrible thoughts. In Ken's opinion, the cost of not being able to defend his family will be his inability to sleep. What unfortunate event caused Ken's dire situation? What can Ken do to get over this pain?
Ken was watching TV that evening, as he usually did when he saw his kitchen door had been opened. He took out his revolver and went to the kitchen. Two guys were attempting to enter his home. The taller one, James Burns, fired at him, but he managed to get away and fire back. Then, while making a call to the police, he raised his revolver and pointed it at Cody Hills, the second person. The fact that he had shot a teenager made him feel awful, though. He felt horrible when he heard the following morning that James Burns had passed away from bleeding. He immediately called police officer Ellis, who gave him Cody's address at Shadow Drive. What do you think is the connection between Ken's visit and his healing process? Who is Mykel?
There are many valuable lessons to be drawn from this tale. It was amazing how much I learned about sex education and how to teach it to kids. I also learned about the need for secrecy, especially for parents. Children will share their secrets with individuals they trust. Furthermore, it is crucial to note that I gained knowledge of charitable giving and helping the less fortunate. The relationship between parents and children was another thing I learned more about. I should also point out that this book also includes chapters on loving children unconditionally and practicing responsible parenting. This book also promotes diligence and concentration in your field of expertise.
I wish to give Kay A. Oliver special thanks or praise for a job well done. What must have motivated the author to create such a fascinating tale is still a mystery to me. The characters have been appropriately created. The narrative's structure and organization are excellent. No detail was overlooked; it is incredibly thorough and suspenseful, which I would also like to add. Additionally, I would like to note that I did not come across any grammatical or typographical problems while reading this book. As a result, this book is exceptionally well-edited.
It is undeniable that this book is unique in all respects, I'll give this book five out of five stars. Anyone looking to learn more about responsible parenting should read this book, in my opinion. I would also recommend it to anyone who needs healing after a difficult or unfortunate event in their life.

Recent Review:
Sisters in Cold Blood comprise brief chapters and pages that move at a leisurely pace. The pacing works quite well for this Novella. Kay A. Oliver, the author, brings a lot of creativity into the serial killer crime genre. Unlike most serial killer novels that focus on catching the killer, the book's priority differs. I enjoyed the author's fresh take on the genre. The book also includes a link to a companion workbook that allows the reader to solve the crime as they read, which makes the reading all the more exciting.
FREE: Companion eBook offer. This companion book gives you images of the confession letter, news articles, Missing Persons and proof of the serial killers souvenirs that Keri and Jade find along the way.
